I have my eye on the Latin Percussion EZX. I’m a SD user and I’ve not used EZX libraries at all, what is the difference?
Are the latin instruments recorded with ambient mics or is the ambient pre-mixed? is there any functionality or quality lost compared to SDX libraries? Where was the latin library recorded?
Many thanks.

EZXs are 16-bit and SDXs are 24-bit.
EZXs load in S2 fine.
There is a ‘Room’ channel in the LP EZX along with direct mics for the percussion pieces (check the http://www.toontrack.com/screenshot2.asp?imagepath=ezx_latinpercussion&keepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&width=940&height=620).
I’m not sure where they were recorded but I’m guess it was at Toontrack’s studio.

Thanks, Scott. I hadn’t seen that channel on the EZD mixer. I wouldn’t mind betting they were recorded in 24-bit and reduced for the EZX though 😉 From what I’ve heard on the demo pages, it’s not an issue -I think I’m going to go for the Latin pack.
You guys fancy doing an african drum/ ethnic percussion library? I’ve looked at loading samples from my multitracks of an ensemble into shortcircuit. Doums and Djembes, Dholaks and Tablas anyone? I used to engineer quite a few flavours of acts and I must have some outtakes I could use.
