I’m an avid metal drummer and i really just want to make a trigger for my kick drum. I have read a lot about how to make the triggers them selves but what can i connect them to? I dont really want to spend large amounts of money on a drum module so is it possible, seaming as i only have 1 trigger to connect it some how to my computer and then go through some sort of software?
I would say what you are trying to do would be kind of difficult with out some serious electronics knowledge and time to build some sort of interface for your computer. Your best bet and its what I have done is buy an Alesis DM 4 for a 100 bucks and get a Ddrum Kick Trigger(Spend the extra money on the version with the XLR conections its worth it). You will get kick ass sounding kick drums and also the ability to use the midi out to run into a computer and use DFH for even more kick ass kick drum sounds. For about a 150 bucks you can be up and running and sounding kicking ass. On my drum set I use triggers on the toms as well. I dont on the snare though. For live applications set up time is dramatically reduced and 10 times more consistent sounding drums no matter what PA you are running through(Especially Smaller PA Systems).
