I spent the past hour or so trying to figure out how to spend my money on some more drum realism.
My particular focus was on whether to pick up the Signature 1 pack or something in the SDX line. AFAIK the EZX’s lack some of the dynamics of the SDX’s to me but I have no idea how to quantify it – I had noticed that there are some Hi-Hats I want in each of the Signature EZX packs. But I’d prefer to find them in the SDX’s, only you know, it takes awhile to visit each page and dig through, and find out, for example, that the NY series of SDX only has a Sabian throughout, the same model apparently. I realize that a lot of the benefit of each SDX session is the variety in mics and rooms and techniques. But an available breakdown for the non-owner, as Toontrack progresses, of the all the kit pieces and samples, and where (EZX or SDX) they’re found, would be a great feature. I’m not recommending a IK Multimedia buy-within-app situation, heavens forbid! But a way to search, the way we can within the Superior Drummer interface of our own libraries, but that includes all available stuff (maybe even including articulations) would be fantastic.
I did the search on perplexity.ai (which will not be reliable for everything, but maybe for this it is).
Toontrack features Bosphorus hi-hats in the following expansions:
”
EZX Libraries
SDX Libraries
These expansions allow users to integrate Bosphorus hi-hats into their drum productions, enhancing their sonic palette with professional-grade recordings.”
Then I asked it about this Murat Diril brand hihat:
”
EZX Libraries
SDX Libraries
These expansions allow users to incorporate Murat Diril hi-hats into their drum productions, enhancing their overall sound palette with high-quality recordings.”
Because of this false information from perplexity.ai it nearly caused me to buy State of the Art, just so I could get my hands on those extra velocity layers and articulations on those hats. Unfortunately the Murat Diril is only available in the Signature 1 EZX to my knowledge, and not, as perplexity.ai first ‘responded’, in State of the Art SDX, OR in the Signature 2 EZX. So toontrack should definitely weigh in before this AI stuff gets out of hand.
