Hi guys,
When I change an instrument in EZdrummer (specifically the ride cymbal) I lose that channel in the mixer preset. Any idea how to change an instrument and not lose the mixer channel?
Thanks!
Chris
Hard to follow with out precise terms and some elaborating.
What EZX are you using and which Library Preset do you have selected?
What you’re explaining sounds like you’re changing the Ride in the Drums Tab, and then the Ride channel disappears from the Mixer Tab. This sounds like a bug and should be reported.
If you make changes on the Drums Tab and then switch your Library Preset before saving, you will lose all of your changes made on the Drums Tab, fyi.
A vid that explains the aforementioned in detail (at about 21 mins) so you can plan out your workflows… https://youtu.be/4ExyBoFKgww
Hope that helps or do explain your issue in greater detail.

Thanked by: Christopher_15Thanks for the answer!
So I’m using Custom Shop with the ‘Mix and Match’ preset. I’ve subsequently changed the Ride to something from the Modern Library. This stops any sound on the Ride channel The channel stays in the mixer but if I solo it, then there is no sound. However, if I’ve picked up your video correctly (which is great btw!) I should create a custom kit, select that then use the mixer setting I want?
Thanks!
Chris
“I should create a custom kit, select that then use the mixer setting I want?” If you first save your Custom Kit as a User Kit, yes this is a great workflow which I recommend. But what you’re explaining in your response sounds like an error. I would dive into this for you but I do not own that EZX.
I recommend contacting support directly with the explanation of your second response… “I’m using Custom Shop with the ‘Mix and Match’ preset. I’ve subsequently changed the Ride to something from the Modern Library. This stops any sound on the Ride channel The channel stays in the mixer but if I solo it, then there is no sound.”
(my only thought is maybe your turned the ride volume knob down on the Drums Tab by accident, check that first before contacting support. Simply right-click on the ride and view the knobs.
To contact support directly go to any EZD2 FAQ on the Toontrack website, scroll to the bottom of the page under “tags”, you will see a contact support button. One of the Mods might see this thread and pick up on it, but they might think it’s already cared for since it’s pretty active.
Since the last major update there have been more Mac bugs. So I can’t guess whether it’s a OS issue or an EZX issue. Due bring the solution back to this thread if you figure it out. Good luck to you.

Hi Christopher,
The Custom Shop EZX is a bit special in that it has a separate microphone for the Ride(s). In your other EZX, the Close Mic for the Ride is the OH mic/channel. Selecting a Ride from an EZX that doesn’t have the Ride separate, does not magically create a separate Ride output so the Ride from the other EZX will be output on the Default output for its Close signal which is the OH.
I hope this clarifies.

John

Thanked by: Christopher_15 and ShootieThanks John – appreciated!!
Riddle me this please. Would the same thing happen if I was to use SD3?
Cheers!
Chris
Well, yes and no.
The same Auto-assignment to microphones would happen when you switch out instruments but you can, via the ‘Route Instrument Microphones’ page, select if you wish the ‘Close’ signal to be routed to the existing ‘Ride’ channel, the Default ‘OH’ channel or create a separate new mixer channel.

Thanked by: Christopher_15Thanks John. Seriously considering crossgrading and that feature is one of value to me.
