I understand your efforts to protect your wonderful work and your business. I purchased EZDrummer something like 7 years ago and Superior one or two years later. Now, after many hardware fails and OS reinstalls, I am facing the fact that EZ has reached the limit of authorizations and Superior is 3/4; EVERYONE I know has an illegal copy of EZ (exept my grandmother, but that’s just because she died some years ago) and is always happily up&running, while I am stuck and feeling somewhat guilty entering the procedure of justifying myself for having reinstalled on my evolving machines the software I purchased. After yesterday’s full reinstall on an old machine (that strangely enough has changed the unique hardware code), today my brother convinced me that a new machine would be affordable and very powerful, but I face the fact that I would burn out my last chance with Superior, and now the world colours wierd. The line between honesty and foolishness is getting thin here. I am just a phone call from an illegal copy that would grant me perpetual freedom EVEN IF I bought my legal one, I hate wasting time and energy for using something that is mine. So: INDECENT PROPOSAL » Toontrack should retroactively give 1 or 0.5 extra authorization slot per-year to registered users, without any question or attachment, holding still the limit so there cannot be more than 2 active authorizations; the software will check and terminate obsolete istances of itself « This will make easy the life of your loving customers and will not significantly increase the number of the dozens of thousands that own and use an illegal copy. I invite you to consider that an angry customer usually leaves you without a word, so you will never know how many have just left due to unkind rules without taking the time for posting a post like this in your forum. As you can see strict controls on your honest customers is not preventing leakage while it is damaging them, and it might be not such a great idea on the long run. Think about my proposal. And please do it. Best regards and keep up the great work! 🙂
Or, before you use up your last authorization, you can just ask us to remove the ‘inactive’ ones and we will be more than happy to do so if requested.
