First off.. Really loving EZdrummer. Just finished making an entire album with it. Between EZdrummer and EZbass I created a template with my favorite settings, mixed it and used the exact same settings and mix for every track on the album and doing this made all of my disparate tracks feel consistent.
But I do a lot grungy, non-perfect, dirty, lo-fi, rock and roll. And I would love if we can have this added feature for realism:
- I think there should be a way to send other instruments like Bass and Guitar to the EZ drummer track, and EZ drummer could mix the auxiliary input into the drum tracks to sound as if those sounds are bleeding into the mics. Then there could be a dedicated knob to control the amount of auxiliary bleed mixed in.
- Beyond that, I’d love for the same feature to simulate the way cymbals will subtly rattle when bass and guitars get loud in the room – especially from the rumble of the low end. I imagine this being another knob to control the amount that the auxiliary rattles the cymbals.
I thought about this while listening to the famous Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton album, where Clapton recorded his guitar insanely loud and it bled into everything. You can hear the cymbals rattling whenever he is playing.
A lot of us who buy EZdrummer buy it because we don’t have a drummer or don’t have a real drum kit. I play through EZdrummer with an Alesis Nitro Mesh or use the included midi loops. But I’d love for the option to still make it sound like my music is recorded in a live room with some of these subtle details.
