Hey guys,
The hit-point accuracy in Tracker is incredible; very well done.
Instead of asking for something that has been asked for countless times (and I’m sure you’re already working on it because you wouldn’t want to disappoint so many people, wink wink), I wanted to give feedback on how I feel it should be implemented:
When the user drags the audio file onto the snare drum, for example, it will act just as it does now. It pops up and asks if you want to make it a stack, instrument, etc. However, to add the round-robin samples, the user would drag the sample and drop it onto the already-added sample off to the far right. Dragging and dropping it onto the snare graphic would get you the popup but dropping it on top of one of the samples on the right would create a little widget-looking dropdown to see the other round-robin samples in the stack. That way, the main window doesn’t get cluttered and everything is easy to navigate.
So you’ll still only see one drum graphic per velocity, but to see the round-robins, the user clicks the widget next to it to see the others. If they select one of the round-robins from the dropdown, it now takes the place of the file that was there prior and the previous file is added to the dropdown list (like if they needed to modify the pitch of one of the samples in the stack).
Lastly, there’s no required separate popup menu this way because the user already made their settings when they loaded the original file of that velocity range (already chose stack or whatnot). Dragging another file on top of it would inherit the same setting, only now they will cycle automatically.
My two cents –
Steve
Thanks for the feedback – your ideas are good, and noted! 🙂
