Cakewalk’s drum replacer plugin had it, seems very useful.

Perhaps it would be a neat thing to have ARA integrated into SD3, so it just looks at tracks in the DAW directly, and processes from them directly? No need to import any files then manually.
The ARA system is a good idea, the problem with it that it’s no standard amongst DAW:s. If we would chose to support it, it would take a considerable amount of time from our developing team, which could be used to do other stuff – improve other areas of SD3 for example. Unfortunately, one of the DAWs that support ARA – Sonar – has declared that their DAW may be stopped from further development.
However – I really like that DAWs improves their support for plugins, and I have noted this as a feature request 🙂

Stopping from development doesn’t mean suddenly ARA support in it stops working though. It’s sad to see Gibson killing yet another DAW, even if I don’t use it (I did use Sonar 7 many moons ago).
However, Reaper will be getting ARA support, it has been hinted by the devs, very soon from what it looks like. (And I’m a Reaper user, ehehe.)
So yes, definitely do try and invest some time in doing this, if at all possible! 🙂
We won’t shut any doors to cool features – we keep our eyes open! 🙂
