I was wondering what is the fastest way to identify ezdrummer grooves in a project. Was sent a project with various ezdrummer grooves in a track, and am having some difficulty identifying down the specific grooves/variations etc. (Using Sonar X3 Producer and ezdrummer 1.3). I see there are shortened abbreviations in the track view itself, but it is a slow process decyphering the names and I would like to speed up my workflow as I will be receiving more ezdrummer grooves in the future from this person.
Is there naming convention used to id the grooves quickly???
Thank you!
Hi,
first of all, I think you should update to the latest available version, which is 1.4.0.
For finding out which groove is used, I recommend checking out these threads discussing the nomenclature:

Thanks John…I will check out the threads tonight.
Edit: Just tried to view the links you posted and received this message:
“Access denied – you do not have permission to view this page”
I was logged in at the time, so that shouldn’t be the problem,,, any ideas?
Hi,
I have confirmed the links are valid, so it must have been some kind of time-out with your log in.
Please try again.

Still no luck viewing links or any sub sections in the forum except the general one. Tried to update my profile and subscriptions but it did not change anything and links are still unavailable… Help???
edit: tried on 3 different computers..
Hi,
you do not have any Toontrack products registered to your account, which is why you do not have access to the registered users section.

Ok, that makes sense… I did buy the Reggae midi package from a third party, but never registered it… I hope I have the “internet” receipt…
thanks for your help…
I found the email receipt for my Reggae beats purchase and it was registered under a different account. When I try to log in under the other account, I still get the same message( “Access denied – you do not have permission to view this page”)
How would I go about deleting the account that has no registered product? I think this may be the solution.
Thanks!

About ready to give up… Tech support sent me an email letting me know that they got rid of my second account, so now I only have this one. After logging in, I tried to access the links and still got the same message. I tried IE, Firefox and Safari… no luck.
?????????
Sorry,
don’t know what’s up with that, it may be that MIDI Packs aren’t tied to unlocking Forum views but I’ll copy some of the info from those threads here:

I need to know how to identify EZD patterns after the fact……after I drag and drop them into a midi track in Sonar.
Â
The clip properties will tell me the clip title is “EVR_Rd_G03c_G04:18” and that is meaningless to me when I try to translate that to the user-friendly names in EZD’s groove listings.
@Rogue said:
if you consider how many grooves there are combining all EZX-s thus far, and how many distinct but descriptive ways there are to name them, the reason should be pretty obvious 😉
Anyway, each group of letters correspond to a level in the browser. Each letter in a group is a shorthand for the full name, with provision for duplicate categories.
So in your example,
Ezx Vintage Rock_
4th (d) Rock instance (Slow Tempo)_
3rd (c) Groove 03 instance (Rebel Music)_
Groove 04… and the cherry on the cake, velocity sweep value before drag and drop: 18

Hi,
are you sure it isn’t “EPD_Pb_G09_07H”?
Because then it would be:
EPD = the EZdrummer POP/ROCK stock MIDI
Pb = the second (b, like in a,b,c,d, etc) POP/ROCK entry, i.e. the Shuffles (P=POP/ROCK, b=2nd)
G09 = GROOVE 09
07H = the 07.Hats 8th Hard Closed/Ghost variationThis is the naming nomenclature for all Toontrack MIDI when dragged to host and shortened.
E.g. SP2_S4c_PCb_V02 means:
Songwriters Pack 2/Straight 4/4 3rd entry (the Uptempo one)/Pre Chorus 2nd entry (Modern Rock 155bpm)/Variation 02Hope this clarifies.

John

Thanks for your efforts John. I contacted support help again in hopes that they can come up with a solution… What’s weird is that the support link you included earlier in the thread was accessible and worked when I clicked on it.
I would like to peruse the many threads that are available to registered members, so I hope this is resolved soon.
Thanks again, Jim.
Received this from customer support this morning.
“Sorry for the trouble. The forum links belong to the Superior 2.0 and EZdrummer registered users section so that is likely why you cannot access those forums (we only see Reggae Midi registered).”
I’m disappointed that I purchased and registered my Toontrack product, yet have been given only limited access to the forums.
Seems to me that would cut down on the number of issues that customer support would have to deal with, but then again, maybe the support team needs to justify their jobs…
Tech advisor John has been great in responding in a timely matter—maybe he has some influence going forward with this issue

I guess the question I have would be; with what Toontrack sampler are you using your MIDI pack?

Scott,
I was using ezdrummer 1.3 demo with Sonar x3… when demo expired I started using loops(Beta Monkey)… certainly not as flexible for sure. Time will come when cash flow isn’t an issue and I can buy the full version.
