Whenever I use a fill to go from a verse to a chorus, I usually want a crash on the first beat of the chorus. Are we supposed to make those ourself? Forgive me…I’m a newb.
I actually prefer to not have crashes on every beat 1 of every ‘chorus’ groove.
For example, say I find a good 2 bar chorus groove that has a crash on beat 1. If I want to copy that 2 bar groove 4 times to make an 8 bar chorus, I’d need to delete the crash for 3 of the 4 grooves as I don’t want a crash on beat 1 every 2 bars.
It is much easier to drag a groove into your host and quickly add a crash on just the first beat.

Yeah, I suppose once I learn how to manipulate midi notes it will be cool. I’m still in the drum machine mode I guess 🙂
Thanks for the input. I understand your point.
Editing notes, especially single notes is super easy.
To add a crash is usually a one or two mouse click operation.
I do think some pre-made midi grooves have crashes on the first beat however.
Reaper right?

At about 1min30 to 1min40 he shows how to add midi notes by drawing them in.
