First Using Pro Tools 11 and EZDrummer 2.
So I know the humanize function is on all the time but I was wondering does it affect both any midi being sent to EZdrummer as in on the instrument track or sent from a midi track? Or is this only for midi tracks within EZDrummer. Also if I wanted to record the midi out from EZDrummer to a Midi track is this humanized and how would I go about it. I can send the misi but I am not getting any midi notes once I hit record…only while the midi track is armed and in play mode.
Any ideas?
The Humanize function is a legacy from EZdrummer 1 and it is only changing the way that the drums sound – it doesn’t alter any MIDI.
By turning it completely off, as an example – hits with the same velocity will always use the exact same audio, making the drum sound artificial with the “machine gun effect” as a result.

Hi Guys, Good topic…
May I ask which setting is best & how do they differ? EZX optimized (Default) or ON (Humanize is always on for all drums?
P.S.
I read the info in the manual, and thought I would get some more insight on this.
Thanks in advance!
Micdim
For many EZXs ‘Optimized’ is the same as ‘On’ but for some EZXs we have
found that it is better to turn some humanization off for a few instruments.
So, ‘Optimized’ is the EZX default as it loads in EZ2, S2 and possibly EZ1
and the way we suggest you run it.

I find that when choosing grooves through EZ Drummer 2, they always sound fantastic, but when I bring them into Protools, the lose that human feel. My process is this…
First I find the grooves I like,
I import them in to Protools,
Completely the whole song with various grooves etc…
I then go into the midi editor and adjust the velocity and even randomize the quantization on each drum to make the timing a little less perfect.
Then I save all the drums to wave files and import the wave files to individual stereo tracks.
I suppose this is a lot more work than I need to do, but I am really trying to have the feel of a rock n roll band.
Is there anything else you recommend that I can do?
