And another view. The big foam pad seems to act as a good isolator

Top veiw of snare with mesh head. By the way there are very few who sell mesh heads in the UK. These heads are ok but a bit boucy and need damping.

I thought I would have a go at removing the ddrum4 cast precision heads and use redshot triggers on mesh. Works really well although on the flor tom I have made a central trigger based on the simple one by PFozz where the trigger is just sandwiched in a piece of foam. That also works really well on the cast pads. I’m using the alesis IO for the extras. The ddrum4 module has all the toms, Hi-hat, Bass drum, Ride and one cymbal. The io so far has the rim and three cymbals.
I’m still working on the kit and if I can source some foam like I used on the snare trigger I may try a few more designs.

Read the dimensions for the roland cone. Although I cant find any foam with the correct depth I have managed to to get the tip to 7mm out of a round disk I got in a hardware shop. No idea what it was for and neither did the shop keeper. This is the only foam I could find that works well. The bit at the bottom is what was left from cutting out the cone. I used it to fiem up the base and keep the tower stable. The triggering is incredibly good from tiny ghost notes to hard hits using a 27mm Maplin pizo (79p) I would idealy like to get the same foam as Roland use but a search on the internet has not shown me anything other than roland no longer sell the cones.

Any ideas? I think I just want to try them out to see if there is a difference. Mine works really well although there is a hot spot where the cone touches the head. I’m guessing 7mm is about as small as you can go without it being dameged too easely.
