Hi all, I recently purchased EZ Drummer, after watching some great videos on YouTube exploring its great functionalities. My main goal was to use my electronic drumkit (Roland TD3) as a MIDI controller. In basic terms, I just wanted to be able to play my Roland TD3, and have the notes recorded on my PC. I also bought Reaper, since I was made aware I would need this in order to use EZ Drummer. I connected my TD3’s brain to the PC using a USB-Midi Wire, and all seemed to be ready to go. After fighting through the installation process, I was thrilled when I could hit my TD3, and trigger sounds in EZ Drummer. Great stuff! There is a lot of lag between the hit and the sounds, but I was aware this was a quick fix problem. But then, I tried closing the Hi Hat pedal, only to hear the floor tom AND the hi-hat sound. After many hours reading through forums, I’ve hit a complete brick wall, and cannot overcome this problem. I have read that Superior Drummer is better equipped to deal with these kinds of E-Kit problems, but I don’t really want to be £140 down, and still run into issues later in the day. If anybody could offer any help regarding the EZ Drummer/Reaper/Roland TD3 hi-hat controller issue, I would be most appreciative. Tom
Hi Tom I have a roland td-9, superior drummer and reaper – i have the same exact problem with the hi hat controler. a friend mentionted to me that it might be a mapping issue, but I can’t figure it out Please pass it on to me if you get this figured out – i would really appreciate it My email is paulzi@rogers.com I will do the same if i solve it Thanks buddy Paul
Hi guys, remapping in EZdrummer isn’t possible. EZdrummer is only supported for E-drum use in Toontrack solo, which has built-in functions to make generic kits work well, especially with regards to the hi-hat. The double-triggering seems to be cross-talk, though. The plugin does not trigger 2 sounds on one note and the module does not send 2 notes on the same trigger zone/pad, so that leaves 2 zones/pads being triggered at the same time, which leads to my suspicion of cross-talk.
