i’m hoping you guys can give me some insight. so I’ve been using EZD and EZD2 for a few years but primarily as a song writing tool. But now i’m looking at using it as my primary drums on an upcoming release. I admit that i have not spent a lot of time playing around with the velocity control or trying to “humanize” the drum patterns. When I play demos for a friend he keeps telling me the drums sound “too perfect” and give it away that they’re programmed. So my question is:
1. How do I “humanize” them and get them to sound more like a real person, and…
2. should i be using the velocity tool (which has always been set to the default setting) to achieve this? I play a lot of technical metal and i’d like the drum patterns to have some life and feel to them. I’m primarily using the drum patterns from the various MIDI and EZD2 packs I’ve purchased.
I’m using Reaper as my DAW, in case that matters.
I’d love to know what others have been doing and find successful. Thank you in advance!!!
