Hi
I’ve been using EZD for just over a year. No problems whatsoever.
OK. Recently I decided to get a set of video tutorials from Groove3 in an attempt to make my drum parts a little more interesting. The EZD supplied MIDI files are OK but they’re not what I want. The videos used the default EZD kit and came with MIDI files as support.
Looking at the MIDI files, the notes used to trigger EZD extend WAY beyond the keymap provided with EZD. I’ve searched the FAQ’s on this site and I’ve searched the web for a FULL keymap but no luck. I found a video where a guy played every note that’s available over around 88 keys, but no explanation of what the sounds were above MIDI note 65 as shown on the ‘EZKeys.jpg’ keymap.
So as a last resort, has anyone here ever found a full keymap for EZD or am I in search of the holy grail?
Thanks in advance for any help

Midi layout mapping is there for every EZx you own.
Does that help?

Thanked by: rpm-njThanks for the reply Juicy, but no. That only shows the keys from MIDI notes A0 to F3. However, the drum sounds extend below A0 for around a couple of octaves and above F3 to G8 which is a little over five octaves more. There may be more, above and below, but that’s the limit of my keyboard and virtual keyboard. Thanks again for your help though.
It is GM extended. so yes, you will find the tom rims samples all hats.ride articulations and the like i was sure the info displayed all available,
Latin percussion shows all C1 to C7 othere have less naturally,
I am using a 37 note key at home so i need to use octave buttons to get either side.
No, it just shows A0 to F3, and it’s the same with the Vintage Rock kit that I also have. It’s annoying more than anything because when you examine the MIDI files that come with EZD they are using the ‘un-named’ keys as well, so there must be some differences or why bother? I have Googled ‘GM Extended’ and ‘Extended GM’ and the same with GM replaced with MIDI, but many of the hits take you to EZD’s FAQ’s which only say it uses extended GM with no further info.
Hi,
user godprobe has made and provides https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsWMEXuWvqSIdFBaNnBhTFBBZXJZb1F0UThzVXhibmc&hl=en#gid=2 that you might find useful:

Thank you John and thank you godprobe, that is indeed exactly what I have been searching for. In fact, it’s more than I’ve been searching for as it contains the kits I have now and others I may purchase in the future. Also, thanks again to juicy for his contribution.

Thanked by: CH7 Roxright, as the guy behind the mapping I need to tell you however, that, anything not documented in the Key layout PDF for a particular kit can be found elsewhere between note 21 and 65. I think the only exception is for the tom rims in the ‘pop/rock’ set for historical reasons.
So, while that chart is useful if you want to know what would happen if you programmed something outside of that range with a particular kit (that has documented specialist articulations there) then played it through another kit, it does not have value beyond this. That I can see at least.
And yes, you are correct that some of the MIDI is mapped ‘strangely’ in the older EZX-s. The reason for this I cannot really explain. They are actually being revised in fact to avoid some ‘cross compatibility’ issues, just like the SDX MIDI was this summer (which you may or may not know about).
Anyway, as long as you understand the above and do not painstakingly go through all the EZX-s that you own only to conclude that there are no ‘news sounds’ you can trigger that you didn’t already know by looking at the Key Layout PDF, that’s the only purpose of my clarification.

Thanks for that clarification Rogue. I appreciate what you’re saying, but basically I wanted the keymap to make sense of the MIDI files that came with the tuition videos. I could hear snares and stuff being played that were obviously ‘off the grid’ of 21-65 and I figured that if I had names on the keys, I can do that in Reaper I don’t know about other DAW’s, it would help indentify what was going on quicker. Life’s probably too short to start dealing with eight octaves of samples anyway. Thanks again though.
Rogue – thanks for an awesome midi map. Apologies for replying to a 3 year old thread, but this was one of the top results on Google when searching for Toontrack / GM extended midi maps.
I hope it’s ok to build on your map it for my own purposes. I’ll be adding Roland TD30 and Yamaha DTXpress along with a few other products… that way it will be super simple to create Drum Maps in Cubase.
Rogue: I have had several people ask me if it is possible to re-map MIDI note assignments within EZD2 itself. Thus far I have answered that as far as I know you cant re-map internally and have to either re-map your host application or use a midi translator plug.
Am I Missing a trick here, by any chance?
no, that is correct, EZdrummer does not allow remapping.

2021 & no midi map pdfs available on current installation for any sound libraries (menu>sound libraries>midi layout, returns nothing and can find no relevant pdfs anywhere in any toontrack folders) so the User>godprobe>default pdf of spreadsheet got me out of ‘holiday’ headache . . . but support from toontrack is almost enough to . . . well, no point in bitching
I appreciate the assistance John. A more complete midi map than the one provided with EZXs would be a great addition going forward.
