Hello,
I’m a day into a demo of Ezdrummer 2 in Reaper (6.36), intending to use with a Roland v-drum kit for recording midi tracks. I’m also interested in the midi groove song editor. It looks pretty simple, but often find that the developer’s intent and my expectations are often out of alignment. Long story short, I went looking for any sort of link to tutorials or help files and came up pretty empty.
I’d like to to try to get a good feel for what makes the product worth my money. I thought to launch the stand-alone version to see if there was any kind of guided help, a link to a manual, or anything useful. The help menu just points users to the support area of the website. The the support resources on the website do not link to a manual or any tutorials that I can find. So I navigated to the forum, however I find that I can’t read (or post) anything, even if I’m logged in, because I’m not yet a paying customer.
I’ve been using Stever Slate drums 5 for a while, and my first impressions of your product are quite good. However the lack of support- and apparent lack of regard for your demo users / potential customers sort of dampens my enthusiasm. I could understand finding light help resources, and a forum-only approach for freeware or something, but I don’t really understand locking demo users out of reading the forum.
I did eventually find the pdf manual which was installed with the demo, but it isn’t linked within the software, and the way the start menu works in Windows 10, it isn’t obvious unless you search for it. I did also find that if I search the Faq page KB search for “tutorial”, forum posts which I can read seem to appear. I’ll concede I may be blind or missing something obvious. But this is my experience so far, and I thought it might help to share it.
My recommendation would be to package some quick start video links into a help file accessible within the plugin UI (and the standalone one). Make your resources easier to find to ensure demo users get the full experience of what being a Toontracks customer is all about. Your website should probably have support links to the manuals and tutorials as well.
Thanks,
Jeff Hall
