Okay, not one response from the Toontrack Dev team, who apparently don’t seem to care at all. Off to download the Addictive Drums demo which includes a full midi mapping function for only $169. I can’t believe any company would put out a midi product without full midi mapping capabilities. While the samples sound good, I feel I wasted my $$$ on EXD2, since it is useless with my Yamaha E-Drum kit.

Have you tried using the Yamaha MIDI mapping in EZdrummer 2:s settings page? Further – many e-drums can be MIDI re-mapped, and it’s also possible to map incoming MIDI in many DAW:s.

Superior Drummer 2 is the bigger brother of EZdrummer 2, and has all the features required for a complete custom MIDI mapping.

We are aware of that there are features in Superior Drummer 2 that some users would like to see in EZdrummer 2, but we have to draw the line somewhere – to be able to call EZdrummer “EZ”. I can’t comment on future updates and releases, but we are listening to our customers and are always trying to make the most of you satisfied!

Yes, I have tried the minimal mapping in the settings. I have already been through all of this at your other forums here. There is no way for me to map my Yamaha DTXtreme IIs kit with EZD2. IMHO, adding midi mapping to EZD2 would be extremely EZ and make the program EZ as you say. I have also demo`d Superior Drummer 2 and I have friend who uses it in his studio. Simply put, I do not like it nearly as much as EZD2. Plus, it costs a lot more to upgrade to SD2 just to get midi mapping! I still believe that midi mapping should be a standard feature in ANY midi program. AFAIK, EZD2 is the only program that does not have it. I have a $3500 E-Drum kit sitting here that I cannot use in my studio simply because EZD2 does not allow me to map the kit. I never would have bought it, had I known before hand.

And, if your company still stands behind the archaic policy to not advise of any future updates, then you are going to continue to loose people like me to other products. Telling people of future updates, or at least giving them some hope, would only help your business 😉

    Update:

Downloaded the Addictive Drums 2 demo and LOVED it! Purchased the “Custom” version of AD2 for $150 USD. It has full midi mapping capabilities including a “learn” function. Super easy to map my kit, and now I am back in business. My drummer loves the samples as well! Maybe not as much tweaking ability as SD2, but (to me) sounds better and has more than enough tweaking built in (much more than EZD2). Even though I am leaving Toontrack and EZD2 behind, you still should seriously consider adding midi mapping to EZD2 so you don’t loose any more customers. Speaking for myself though, I am kind of glad this happened because I would never have moved over to AD2 otherwise. Thanks for helping me move over to the best drum program for me 🙂
