    Some more info…

I’ve also tried EZ Drummer on Toontrack Solo and VSTHost and in both cases I’m also getting the floor tom triggered when the hi-hat pedal is depressed.

And finally, I’m not seeing this issue using Addictive Drums (demo version) on Reaper.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

EZdrummer isn’t recommended or supported for use with e-drums in any other host other than Toontrack Solo (using the ‘E-drums’ preset from the Options->Controller menu in Solo). I would recommend looking into Superior Drummer 2 if you want to use a Toontrack sampler in Reaper.

Thanks very much for the fast reply, Scott.

But Reaper is listed as a supported host for EZ Drummer: http://www.toontrack.com/product/ezdrummer-2/

In any case, as I mentioned in my second post, I’m having the very same issue with Toontrack Solo and I’m using the E-drums controller preset so it doesn’t look like it’s an incompatibility issue with the host.

Yes, EZdrummer is compatible with Reaper. But EZdrummer is not supported for use with E-drums in any other host other than Solo.

I’m not sure what this issue could be with EZdrummer Lite with edrums in Solo.

I had a quick look but since Yamaha insists on NOT including the notes mapping with their modules operation manuals is it hard to tell. According to their documentation however, it seems that the mapping could be variable with the drum kit preset used. You best be is the GM standard number 50.

Failing that, getting down and dirty i.e reading the manual on how to set note numbers for your triggers in the said documentation may help…

I’ve tried every possible drum kit including the GM Standard one without any luck.

I’ve also changed the note number for the HH controller but that only changes the MIDI signal that gets sent when the pedal is pressed. Upon release of the pedal, I’m still getting the tom signal…

I’ve even unplugged all other triggers and, in an act of desperation, even switched cables to make sure I didn’t have a bad one…

Hi! I’m using Superior Drummer (latest version) with my Yamaha DTXPRESS IV and I have the same problem.
The hi-hat pedal triggers a floor tom and is annoying.
What I do is to use the “Learn” feature and try to program the best I can, the hi-hat sounds.
I can make SD learn the open, closed, and chick sound. I don’t know how to work with the other sounds (open1, open2, etc)
I haven’t tried it but I know Addictive has a preset that automatically maps a DTXpress IV correctly…

With Superior 2 you should always start with the ‘E-drums’ MIDI Preset and only use Learn for the odd articulations that don’t match. The hatsTrig scheme does not work if you start ‘Learning’ the open and closed sounds, since they are triggered by the ‘hatsTrig’ notes and controlled via CC.
In your case, you should only Learn the pedal chick for the hi-hat. The rest would be covered by the Preset.
When all set up, you save your own MIDI Preset.

Thank you so much John. Your answer woke up some neurons in my head 🙂
I discovered the problem was with the “open pedal” function:
I set MIDI to “E-Drums”, then I made SD to learn the open-pedal movement and then I lowered it’s volume 🙂
now I have a fully functional hi-hat pedal working in Superior Drummer!
    Many thanks again John!
