EZkeys First impressions

Just purchased and set up today. First impressions:

The piano:

1. Love the overall feel and sound of the piano.

2. But I want a soft layer of samples. Even using the filter, adjusting the velocity, and changing the dynamicsvolume of soft notes parameters, I still want a soft layer. Particularly in the midrange.

3. I’d like to have more control. Just control over the amp envelope, particularly the attack and the release, which seems brief on harder strikes, seems necessary. (No velocity to release time modulation?) More generally, users are accustomed to having more control, so providing such limited access to parameters seems strange.

The interface:

1. Nice overall. I understand the need for simplicity.

2. Great to let the user change the key of dragged-in midi files to match the existing key.

3. Once a section of the midi file is clicked onselected, pressing the Delete key should delete it.

4. The sustain pedal sometimes does not work. Not good.

5. A full-fledged midi step sequencer that allowed editing of each note would be a nice goal for a later release. Not just for correcting errors. It would let the user make small changes in the default patterns and their own patterns.

6. Using the Standalone version, it took me awhile to find the Export Song as Wave File command. I found myself wishing that I could just press a button on the main interface to record the audio.

7. And this goes off into a personal wish–that the audio recorder also allowed a line in for recording a vocal to a separate track live. Would create a complete singer-songwriter package for creating drafts and recording inspirations. Seems to just duplicate what can be done in a host, but the entire point would be to avoid a host and keep things simple: double-click once to open the Standalone version, press Record, and be able to instantly play and sing.
