“EZkeys 2 is required to read and reply to this thread”… Why?

    Because they do not want potential customers to read about all the issues users are posting about.

    Martin, I have to say, that was my first thought.

    I can’t, for the life of me, think of another reason why Toontrack wouldn’t want potential purchasers checking out the “Help” forum. As I said before, there’s far more useful info there.

    It’s a given that there are users of any product that will have issues with it – that wouldn’t put me off purchasing a product. However, what does put me off purchasing, is the feeling that a company is deliberately trying to hide something.

    Are “cracked” plugins still a thing?

    Maybe the restriction is so that someone that is using a “cracked” version of a Toontrack plugin can’t go the “Support” forum and get support for their cracked plugin and waste support’s time.

    Thanks for your reply, Scott.

    I’ve no idea if “cracked” plugins are still a thing. I guess that no matter how sophisticated copy protection systems get, there will always be those that try to circumvent those systems.

    However, I’m a musician and hobbyist photographer, and use many associated forums. I don’t know of another s/w company that prohibits the general public from reading their help forums. Official Pro Tools,  Cubase, and Adobe forums are available for all to read.

    Hi Steve ;

    All I can say as a user of EZK1 for 8 years and I’ve had EZK2 since day 1 . I had 1 issues with ED3 trial and they got back to me in 3 hours and it was user error my fault . I only joined the forums to tell the guys who built EZ2 how much I was enjoying their new software . About day 3 I noticed a very random bug and reported it . In a very short time  they said they couldn’t reproduce the bug , could I send them the file with the bug . I did and within hours they told me they had fixed it and it would be in EZK2.1 and thanks . I have rarely if ever seen a team like these guys while reading this forum . And I repeat to you Steve this is my favorite Midi tool , music creation  , songwriting gizmo ever .

    Win 11 ; AMD 5800x (8-cores)
    64 gig ram ; RTX 3080 ;

    Hey folks,

    What is the difference between EZK1 expansions and EZK 2 expansions besides the price? As a long-time customer I have a sizeable investment in the former expansions. I am having trouble finding a “chart” or any other device that compares the two. Any help would be appreciated. Thx

    “One of these products are required to read and reply to this thread.” absolute d1ck move and that’s a big strike in my book to stay away and NOT support such companies…

    Not to mention that before you see this, you see a similar information but that you have to log in first to see or reply… Then you see this… Like WTF!? Simple as that, you have just deterred a next potential customer/

    By restricting access to registered users only, we can better control who participates in the forum. It helps prevent spam, malicious activities, and trolls, creating a safer and more trustworthy environment for our community.

    Another reason that the forum is closed to non-users is to prevent users with pirated copies of the product from accessing support.
    Providing support requires time and effort from moderators and community members. Offering support to users with illegal copies could divert valuable resources away from assisting legitimate users and addressing genuine issues.

    However, we will forward your request to have the forums open to our web department.

    Just as I thought, but this is like X time I am trying to learn something about your products EZdrummer, EZbass, etc. and I cannot read anything because first it is locked behind a log-in wall, okay… I get it. I log in, and then I see:

    ” One of these products are required to read and reply to this thread. ” – really…

    As for the reply… Don’t you guys have some keys/authenticators or whatever with your software? Not being able to see some basic info like how active/helpful the community on the forum is, how many unanswered questions there are, or as in my case… Not being able to find an answer if I can use keyboard to trigger drums in EZdrummer or if I can use Roland TD-07DMK to use with Ezdrummer or Superior Drummer…

    It all just screams… stay away from it and look for alternatives…

    and:

    ” Another reason that the forum is closed to non-users is to prevent users with pirated copies of the product from accessing support.
    Providing support requires time and effort from moderators and community members. Offering support to users with illegal copies could divert valuable resources away from assisting legitimate users and addressing genuine issues ”

    So you are saying your security is so weak and unreliable you have to lock your forums from the general public as well in order to not to share some helpful solutions/tips/opinions/reviews/etc. because community and moderators may potentially help some random people that may be using illegal copies of your product?

    It’s a forum… don’t you have a dedicated support ticket system where you can help individuals, who you can verify before helping them out?

    Also why would you lock the forum:

    FIRST, with a log-in wall

    SECONDLY, with a ” One of these products are required to read and reply to this thread. ”

    It’s just disrespectful for anyone taking time to register to your website to read your forum..

    Why wouldn’t you just say upfront that THIS PARTICULAR forum sections is ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT ONE OF THESE PRODUCTS? Why do you make them REGISTER first, LOG-IN second and then show this to their face?

    ” One of these products are required to read and reply to this thread. “

    I get what you are saying… and it makes some sense but still… the execution of the idea is just not something you are actually positively advertise yourself with/
