I have TD-12k and trying to use ezdrummer2 and have some problems.
1. When I open and close the hi hat pedal, that triggers cross stick sound and I can’t find any answer for that problem. please help!!
2. when I try to finger mute the cymbals, that makes full strike sound instead of stopping the sound.
Hi,
you are using the standalone EZdrummer 2 app, right?
You need to make sure your module is at Factory Settings and that you have selected the Roland E-drums mapping in the EZDrummer 2 settings.

Hi. Thanks for your answer.
Actually, I was trying the Demo to see if EZdrummer2 works on my drum set.
I tried at Factory setting and it didn’t make much difference. Is there any other suggestion?
I think that triggers at the moment that the hi hat is fully opened and closed not in between.
BR.
The same for me, I’m using the td-3 and I have booth problems too. I have set Roland e-drum and the same.
@javier87gav:
if your TD-3 is at Factory settings and you select the ‘Roland’ E-drum MIDI Mapping, you should be good to go.
Please specify exactly what does not work.
If you click the instrument properties drop-down on e.g. the Hi-Hat and then the ‘Details’ button, you can see the incoming MIDI note(s) you are sending in the bottom of that window.
If you hit the HH and the wrong instrument is playing back, please specify which note is being sent.

Did you adjust the hi hat curve in the mapping presets? Also maybe trying using the learn function for each of the sounds: hi hat open, closed and chick sound?

@RcKDrUmm3R:
Learning the separate articulations is not the correct way to do it, especially if you’re using one of the supported brands like Roland.
You select the ‘Roland’ E-drums MIDI Preset, which triggers the ‘hatsTrig’ and ‘hatsTipTrig’ articulations (and ‘hatsBellTrig’ depending on how many zones your HH pad has and currently selected library), which in turn triggers the correct open or closed articulation depending on the CC data sent simultaneously.
If you ‘Learn’ the separate articulations, you can only get 4 (well, 5 with the chick and 6 if your HH supports Bell) and need to filter the CC data since it will be conflicting and you won’t get as varied and “clean” results.
I.e. the regular separate articulations are meant to be triggered by tailored MIDI files or keyboard while E-drummers should use the ‘Trig’ articulations and CC data.
Which is already set up in the E-drums specific MIDI Presets.
I hope this clarifies.

John

I have the same problem with Yamaha Dtxtreme III module upgraded to latest dtx 900 firmware. There is no Learn function in EZ Drummer 2.
I downloaded Addictive Drums and tested it and I did not have this problem. Please help get this fixed, I want to give you my money for Ezdrummer 2 but I can’t unless this issue and the fact that cymbal chokes stay choked and do not release.
I have a factory set module and I have yamaha edrum preset selected on Ezdrummer.
What other options do Inhave???
@AdamR:
Please specify exactly what you are having problem with besides the choking.
Are you using the Standalone app or are you using it as a plugin in a host? If you are using the plugin, please make sure your host isn’t filtering out Aftertouch messages.
If you are using the standalone, please make sure your computer actually is receiving Aftertouch messages when you choke.
If you click the instrument properties drop-down on e.g. the Hi-Hat and then the ‘Details’ button, you can see the incoming MIDI note(s) you are sending in the bottom of that window.
If you hit the HH and the wrong instrument is playing back, please specify which note is being sent.

Hi John,
Thank you for the reply. The odd thing is I don’t experience this problem at all with Addictive Drums and I am using the exact same setup. I am using these products as Standalone.
I have a MacBook Pro with 16 GB ram. I plug the two midi ends of the cord into the Yamaha DTXreme III drum module and I plug the USB end into the MacBook Pro. I have the Yamaha Midi driver installed. Ezdrummer recognizes the Midi source coming from the DTX module.
Main Issues:
HiHat Control
The problem seems to be with the CC4 hi hat control note. On the Yamaha module if I set the parameter called SendHH to Off ->I no longer hear the stick shot sound when activated the hi hat control, but I also do not have the ability to open and close the hi hat. It just remains in the state (open or closed) that it was in before turning off the SendHH parameter on the module. This does not make this a viable solution as I have no hi hat control to EZdrummer when turning this parameter off.
I have tried to use a Midi Capture to see exactly what is going on. I believe my 10 day demo copy of Ezdrummer 2 just expired. Is there any way I can extend this for a few more days to get these issues resolved. I would love to purchase the software but have to get this fixed first.
Cymbal Choke Issue
What would an Aftertouch message look like on EZDrummer details tab? I only use EZdrummer in standalone mode again so I am not using it as a plugin to any other software. All I notice is that when I choke a crash cymbal, it will stay in that choked sounding state and I can continue to hit it over and over and over and it will still make the choked cymbal sound. I have to grasp and hit and grasp and rehit in order for it to release the choke cymbal sound and resume the normal crash sound.
I can try to upload the Midi Notes tomorrow from a midi capture of both of these events. In the meantime, is there anything else I should try. Why would I see this behavior on EZdrummer 2 but not experience it on Addictive Drums software both with exact same setups.
Thanks,
Adam
Hi,
AFAIK there is no way to extend the Demo period, unfortunately.
IIRC, the stuck Cymbal choke issues we’ve seen a few times over the years have been related to hardware, such as bad cables, module settings or similar.
If you can monitor the Aftertouch messages for pinch and release, as well as the MIDI notes, it’s a step further in the troubleshooting.
As to why you have one behaviour with a Toontrack product and another behaviour with another manufacturer’s product I can’t say.
Obviously, I do not know that product as well as Toontrack products and don’t know if there’s another scheme in the background for choking with your kit and module.

Hy!:)
I have the same cross stick sound problem but besides something more interesting. If I hit 3pads together (like in a single 2/4 rock beat) only 2 pads has sound the third one disappears.. with a yamaha module I had no problem with this. I use now a roland td-12 module.connected to my pc with a regular usb – midi cable.(can this be the problem??? ) I’ve connected sd3 to a keyboard and I didnt have the same problem..even I could hear 6-7 sound in the same time..so I dont know whats wrong. I should by a roland usb-midi cable or there is a problem with the drum module settings?? I have a digigram vx222hr sound card with its original asio driver. (Even when I tried with other sound cards I had the same problem..) so can it be cable or module settings problem?
Thx 🙂
