Noticed that the playback of EzDrummer grooves is actually much quieter compared to the N.Y. Avatar grooves. Any idea why it is like this?

The MIDI will vary between the different libraries because they were recorded at different times by different methods. The MIDI for EZdrummer was programmed while the MIDI for the SDXs were played by a drummer. The MIDI for EZdrummer is also some of the earliest MIDI Toontrack released and the later libraries are more consistent in their overall velocities.

You can do one of two things. You can try to bump up the velocity of a groove before you drag it into your host DAW by using the Velocity knob in the S2 browser window. Or you can use your DAW’s velocity controls to increase velocity of the whole MIDI track. Or, I guess a third method, would be to use one library to maintain the velocity consistency.

Ok, I guess I will not try and use EZdrummer grooves together with the later ones then. Thanks for the info Scott. I have still quite a bit to learn. Great products!
