EZDrummer Controller

I use Digital Perfomer and EZDrummer and sometimes would like to make my own patterns as opposed to using the patterns/fills in EZD. Do some drum controllers work better with EZD than others (i.e. ease of assigning sounds to the controller pads, etc)?

I’ve use a MIDI keyboard (M-Audio ProKeys88), a Korg PadKontrol and a Zendrum ZAP. I preferred the PadKontrol over the keyboard as I found it more comfortable to finger drum onto the rubber pads than tapping on keys. I much prefer the Zendrum ZAP to the PadKontrol. The keys respond faster/better and the thing is just a beautiful instrument. Of course, the Zendrum is priced accordingly but I still use the PadKontrol with my laptop.
