I’m very interested in purchasing EzDrummer w/ DFH for my band.
We no longer have a drummer, and have decided to carry on without one.
So we we’re looking into drum machines and such, and heard good things about this program.
I just wondered if anyone here could tell me if this is the right program for us.
Our plan would be to get this, get a DAW(sonar 7, probably), and a cheap laptop.
We’d like to use it primarily for writing/practicing, eventually recording and playing live shows. We want this setup to permanently take the place of a drummer. So, we’ll be writing riffs/vocal parts/etc, and use this program to write interesting drum parts for the songs.
it’s for fun, but it’s more than that. we are a serious band who play metal/death metal type stuff and we’re looking to use this program instead of a human being.
is this the right setup, or should i look else where?
The only suggestion that I would make is to buy a good soundcard for your rig and not try to use the onboard laptop soundcard. That would be your weakest link.
That said, I think that you will find playing to canned drums not as much fun as you think. It takes some concentration and once you get off the beat, you’re shot. I’ve done it so it can be done but we weren’t doing the kind of music you intend on doing.
