I am primarily a guitar player and less of a sound engineer. I have the AXE FX with which I can get any sound I want and now I want to invest in a great drum software so I can lay my super shred licks down. I am very new to all this DAW, sequencer and all that stuff. The only drum software I’ve tried so far is the Acoustica beatcraft and its painful. I’ve spent some time reading on this forum and I like what I’m reading. Please confirm if what I’ve understood is right so far. I’d like to buy these products as my father’s day present to self.
1) EZDrummer even though is a plugin, can be made to run standalone using the toontrack solo free software. It can be used to customize the instrument sounds/mics,etc.
2) I dont need to download the DFH for building basic metal “drums only” songs. But if do, I’ll get 20,000 MIDI loops for even more versatility.
3) With the EZPlayer pro, EZDrummer and Toontrack solo, I can run them as a standalone (like acoustica beatcraft) and play an entire song.
Once I create a entire drum sequence, is there a way to convert it to mp3 so I can record over it using Audacity? Sorry for all the noobish questions.
thanks!
Hi,
and thank you for your interest in Toontrack products.
1) Basically: yes.
The level of customization depends on EZX expansion and you can’t adjust stuff like pitch and bleed (like in Superior 2) but individual microphone levels and (when present) FX faders can be adjusted or turned off.
2) Correct.
3) You can run them in standalone but you cannot transform your song to an MP3 unless you use some kind of 3rd party software to capture the output from Toontrack solo.
Please feel free to ask, should you have any further questions.
Best Regards,
John

Drat! With Acoustica, I’d create several Drum songs, render to mp3, put ’em on a CD and take it over to a friend’s place to jam along. Looks like I’d have to take the laptop with the drum song on it huh? Not a big deal.
I read the EULA and it says I can have only one copy of the software running at a time but can install on multiple (or 2?) computers. If I install on one computer and later decide that I dont need it on that computer, is there a way to “un register” a computer?
Yes, you can unregister a computer via your My Products page.
