From what I’ve seen in your videos, in the “Edit Play Style Window” of EZ Drummer 2 you can twist the virtual knobs of “amount” and “velocity” and change the midi notes that appear in the track. I want to know if there’s any way to use these 2 controls (as well as any other movement within the “Edit Play Style Window”, and have them automated in real time, whatever movement you do in this window so that it is recorded.
I assume, from older versions of EZ drummer, that the knobs in the EZD mixer can be easily automated, but I am not sure about these 2 knobs, or in fact, even all the modifications that you apply to the “Edit Play Style Window”.
My intention, a real application of this, would be in a electronic song, to slowly add cymbals, toms, etc… with more / less intensity (“AMOUNT KNOB”) and more / less volume (“VELOCITY KNOB”), for the entire duration of the song, and that all these changes are recorded live, automated either in the EZ drummer track or in the logic track.
I don’t know if I made myself clear but I have not seen this option anywhere on the internet yet. It would be as simple as assigning a midi number to all these “movements” that you do in the “Edit Play Style Window”. Maybe you already thought of it.
Thank you for your answers.
Hi,
currently you cannot automate the Velocity and Amount knobs via MIDI but, as ‘ThePRofessor’ points out, you can build your Song in all other aspects on the Song Track and then record the MIDI out into your DAW, while you move those knobs to get them captured to the performance.
The “Effect” knobs in the Mixer can be automated, yes.

Thank you John,
I just opened Logic Pro X to see how to do that, but I’ve never recorded any MIDI out so I don’t know how to do it. Do I have enough with the DAW and the plugin running?
Usually, the only things that I automate are using the “touch” automation in logic, and twisting the knobs of the plugin while doing so, but I am not sure how to record midi out. If you could help that would be great, this is one of the main utilities that I plan to have in EZD2.
thanks!
I reply myself. I just found it. Enabling midi out in the plugins. I guess that can be done in EZD2. I am now trying another plugin.
thanks! that’s exciting.
Has something changed in SD3? Can you automate with the Velocity and Amount knobs within SD3?
