Q: What happens to my already installed Toontrack EZXs and MIDI packs when I switch to EZdrummer 3?
A: All your already installed EZXs or Toontrack MIDI packs will be accessible through EZdrummer 3. You will need to download and install updates, though. Any and all updates can be found in your Toontrack user account and/or the Product Manager (recommended).
The TT Midi Packs are to be updated to work with EZD3, but what of the USER MIDI LIBRARIES. I have a large collection of User Midi Files, some I’ve made myself, some I picked up from 3rd party freeware that work perfectly with EZD2. Will these also work with EZD3 since they will not be ‘updated’ ? Or will we lose all our User Midi Libraries ?
Thanks…
Hi,
MIDI is just MIDI, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. From what I know it is possible to load an old EZX in EZdrummer 3 and use its MIDI, it just won’t be optimised for EZdrummer 3; old fixed graphics, tagging, etc.

Thanks John, I thought as much. But wanted to make sure before I signed on to EZD3.
I do hope TT is working on EZKeys 2 as well !!
Looking forward to EZD3 !!
I just installed EZD3 and I can’t find an option to manually select user midi folders. All I can do is specify presets or general midi.
Before we could add our own midi libraries.

Unless I misunderstood John, I thought he said User MIDI wouldn’t be a concern.

I’d like TT to clarify this point…
Hi Robert,
EZdrummer 3 does not use the same database as EZdrummer 2, so you will need to add the third party MIDI by right-clicking the third party MIDI folders in the Grooves tab, and then clicking Add to Database.
The User MIDI folder appears in EZdrummer 3, but you may need to right-click and Sync File Changes to see the MIDI in there.

Thanked by: scojoRight clicking for me over the folder area doesn’t do anything? “Open in finder” only selects .mid files, not folders/directories?
I expect the behavior to be that I would either drag a folder to the area beneath “User Libraries” or the blank area to the right, or that I would have the option to enter paths as in EZ2?

…ahh, “User Linked Folders” is under the “Options” button in the Grooves tab.
Really seems like it should still be under the “Libraries and Paths” menu in settings?
The “Options” button is kind of by itself out to quad right/all the way over, easy to get hidden from the central area of the Grooves menu bar….
