Just bought Superior Drummer 3, but I’m basically unable to use it. I’m on a 500mbit fibre optic connection and virtually every other download from any other source is as fast as expected (˜60MB per second). With the Product Manager, I get speeds well below dial-up. There are some short spikes where I get 10MB/s, but it quickly falls down again to those speeds shown in the screenshot.
I’ve read other threads that this is a problem since years, and it’s unacceptable for a product south of 300 Euros. I’m sure Superior Drummer 3 is a great product, but being able to use / download it in the first place should be priority number one, this just makes a bad, first impression. If this doesn’t get solved I’ll make use of my 24h refund window, I can’t wait for hundreds of hours to use the product I’ve paid lots of money for.
Please fix this, change the hosting provider if necessary.

That’s interesting. I suspect there is a problem with the CDN, that you get assigned a slow node. I’m located in Germany, and I decided to take the risk and try to use a VPN to get a different CDN node since pausing/resuming the download and restart Product Manager did not help. I’ve used Sweden as location via Mullvad VPN, and the download speeds have gotten much, much better. It’s not great and might lead to bogus location changes in my account, but might be a hint that something is off when it comes to the CDN.
In any case, as a workaround its fine for now.
Thanks for your post! I just tried using Express VPN to connect to one of the two Sweden locations and it helped a bit, not as much as I wish, but a little better.
The connection via Product Manager is staying around 20 mbps, which is still very slow. I’m on AT&T Fiber internet service with download speeds consistently around 800 mbps. No throttling happening on my end, no proxies in use, no iCloud relay either.
I don’t know why the downloads are taking so long these days, hasn’t been much of a problem for me in the past, and I’ve been using Toontrack products for well over a decade.
I have many Toontrack products and had hoped to get everything installed on my new MacBook pro this weekend, but with the downloads speeds being so slow, it’s not looking like a weekend will be enough time to get it all downloaded and installed – this is crazy.
