Hello dear toontrack community,
I have the same problem which many other users had before me. I really crawled the whole internet about this topic to find a solution and NOT to ask this question in a forum… after hours of testing I still have no solution.
Here is the (well) known problem:
My Yamaha dtxplorer is connected to an Alienware M17X Laptop via (LogiLink) USB-to-Midi cable.
My host is Cubase 5 and I have installed ezDrummer 1.11, operating System is Windows 7, 64Bit.
The installation seems to be fine, when I hit my drumpads I receive a midi signal which is recognized by ezdrummer. (The according drum flashes and I hear the sound)
Due to my intensive internet research I figured out, that Yamaha’s midi notes are obviously not 100% GM compatible – thats why some triggers seem to be mixed up.
The Yamaha kick drum is a snare and the snare is a crash… thats exactly what other users have experienced so far.
I have tried to remap this using the cubase drum mapping editor.. The kickdrum seems to be “C1” and the snare “D1” according to the mapping editor.
Hitting my yamaha kick is a snare sound, so I’ve tried to remap every single snare sound to a “C1”. But that doesen’t work. I have also tried this free software edrum midi mapper according to a solution a guy in this board has posted, but that didn’t work too.
Most of the people say that it would not make sense to change something in the dtxplorers “brain” and I would be happy if there is a solution without editing the “brain”.
Since I’m new to that kind of stuff I am really lost now. There must be a way to solve this. Can anyone give me a little hint or even a guide?
Greetings Jay
