Does SD2 even work? ( Reaper/Roland TD4)

Using SD2 with Roland TD4 through Reaper.

I realize TD4 is an old kit. It works to a degree.

But, the hi hat sounds like trash, especially the open hats. I get insanely loud triggers at random.
I play as carefully as I can and im still getting random giant hits.

Sensitivity seems to do nothing. limiting hit velocity doesn’t seem to do anything.

What am I missing? any suggestions?

Maybe something to do with Reaper.
I have a TD-4 into SD2 on a mac/Logic and it’s amazing. If you’re on a mac (not sure if they do for pc) you could get the Toontrack Solo app which means you don’t have to run SD2 through Reaper. Make sure it’s input setting is set to “E-Drums” though. That way you could see if Reaper is the issue.
