hi
I used a lot Garage band and the “drummer” inside: it was very good
especially for some snares and punch bass drum pedals (kicks)
but i have not found all of these sounds even if i have a lot of EZX+EZD 2
and for you and g band and its drummer, is it an old story ?
Or Do you like some sounds, some snares even if you like the Toontrack products (first)?
You like drums, iconic sounds and drum plugins ?

They both have their purpose. As well, I sometimes combine the functionality within Logic using Drummer’s MIDI against SD3.

In garage band
Motown drums sound good and there is not something like that in the Toontrack products
the drum machines -electronic sounds are amazing in garage band (not sure it’s the same with number one hits ezx except for the 909 because it’s not in g band)
i like some snares
bluebird
portland
neo soul
“retro rock “sounds very good
the smash presets sounds very rock : hard to find something like that with EZD2 /EZX : it may not 100% natural but it works very good in the mix
i like “so cal”
“the sunset preset” good too
-for a snare like retro rock, i will prefer Garage band
-The problem with g band is that in the loops section, the snares sound really good but i can’t use them
because they are not in a full drum kit but just in the loops section
-The kicks (bass drum pedals) always sounded big my videos, not the same with some presets in Toontrack
-For Bonham style, EZD2 vintage+ EZX big rock sound better
-for the big sound (bluesy) i can use Nashville ezx for example
for the others, i prefer Toontrack for rock, pop, metal etc. but i need to add something more like a multipressor-compressor, special eq
because sometimes it sounds very dark
the opposite is drum kit from hell : it sounds so bright !

For ‘i drove all night” (Cyndi Lauper’s version, i will prefer g band)
for percussion and drum machine (except 909), electronic sounds i will prefer gband too
for fast settings> g band too

Then use Garageband if it gives you the sound you’re after… what’s the big deal? 😉
