I’m at a complete loss. In my older years now, I don’t catch on to new tech as easily in years past…so…
I had been playing an E-kit I built into an Alesis D4 and stereod-out to two channels of Fostex VF16 outboard recorder. I’ve now bought EZDrummer and installed Solo and that works on the computer (computer six months old–3HZ and 1G memory). It wasn’t playing any sounds when first installed, and I was getting a “failed audio device…” message every time I opened it up. Some googling hooked me up with someone advising to download and install an ASIO file…I did all that, and then the error message went away, and I could hear the sounds using my computer mouse…
Now, I just want to simply (I hope) play my kit, getting the sounds of the program and recording those onto two channels of the Fostex. I guess you’d call this a “stand-alone” setup. I patched up the MIDI to USB cable from the D4 to the USB port on the computer. I did select the “edrum” preset from the menus, and very little now happening. I did some fiddling with the D4 scrolling here and there, and sometimes I could get a little “hit” and see it on the main screen, but it was very vague, and very infrequent.
I’ve looked for hours but can’t seem to find anything on the net to get me through this. Granted there has been so good info, but most still over my head…
Can anyone advise?
Thanks,
Tim

have you installed the driver for your MIDI interface? Unless your device is appearing in the MIDI > MIDI Devices menu you’re not going to get very far with this I’m afraid.
