Conditional sample triggering

Hello.

I’m wondering if there is any way of telling the sampler to play a given articulation according to the note on to note off time interval.
This would be useful, for instance, to use a conventional midi keyboard or kick e-drum pad to trigger between “kick right” and “kick open” articulations (as seen in the Roots SDX, for instance) without having to use aftertouch, which afaik is not available with conventional drumpads.

I’ve fiddled around with S2.0 but I’m pretty sure there is no way of doing it from within the sampler itself; maybe it’d have to be done from the host/DAW via some kind of nifty MIDI plugin.
