    Hi,

all Toontrack Drum MIDI grooves are compatible with all Drum library expansions (SDX:s and EZX:s). I.e. a Hansa SDX groove will play back as expected with e.g. the core SD3 SDX or the EZdrummer Americana EZX. So, yes.

There are a few exceptions when it comes to specialised EZX:s like the Latin or Cuban Percussion, since they do not have Kick, Snare, HH, etc. They will of course not sound as expected if you play back a Hansa SDX drum groove.

Is there a way to combine the kits from different expansions, not just the MIDI but have kits available in either EZ2 or SD3? I would hope you could use a set of toms from one expansion and a kick or snare from another.

    Yes,

in EZD2 you can load one EZX Preset to act as the Base for your layout and then you click the Open Instrument Properties drop-down for e.g. the Snare to be able to load Snares from other EZX:s.
It will inherit settings from the previously loaded Snare.

In SD3 you can do that and so much more, you can exchange instruments from any EZX or SDX; you can Stack them or add them as new Instruments, you can import settings from another Preset, etc, etc.

    BR,
    John
