I’m another one having an unsuccesfull time getting a realistic playing action with hats. I’ve followed the JoeK tutorial, read all relevant forum posts, read my TD12 manual, Read the Edrummer guide, adjusted the HH#note Border, turned down the samples on the open pedal, whatever has been suggested on this forum I have tried, but that goddamn incredibly annoying (after 3 hours of tweaking), incredidibly loud open foot splash is there in all its hideous glory. …been a long day..haha
It just sounds so artificial and seems to choke the other open sounds. For instance try and do 16th note closed hi hats opening on the off beats and it sounds diabolical. Ok I accept there may be some limitations in performance Vs real hats, getting samples to select and crossfade at that speed is tricky but unless I’m doing very obvious, very precise open hat hits it sounds artificial, choked, an instantly gives the game away, ‘this is not real’.
You don’t need me to tell you these drums sounds great, I’m happy with how the rest of the kit responds, but I don’t want to sit and edit hats when I have an £1800 edrum kit, so please can someone inform me as to what to do or even if I have to accept the limitation in this software/hardware and sit and edit hats.
cheers………
Hmmm I can’t repeat this, playing a 16th note pattern with hihats on the off beats sounds fine here. Could you upload an mp3 somewhere so we can hear…
One other thing….you haven’t got the open pedal mapped to the closed pedal note?
