Of the last 4 YT videos I’ve uploaded, 3 of them have generated copyright claims – one from Believe Digital and two from CDBaby. CDBaby is being real helpful and have told me that they’re removing their claim but it’s still a hassle. CDBaby says that if one of their artists has copyrighted the audio to include the drum loops, then ContentID may find a match on my EZDrummer loops. I’ve asked EZDrummer via user support if they’ve heard of this and although they said they hadn’t heard of it, they were forwarding it to the front office.
At least I can talk to someone at CDBaby. Believe Digital is based out of the UK and although I filed a dispute and emailed them, it’s like talking to a wall. I can’t tell if it’s my sequenced piano performance of Chopin that’s triggering the ContentID algorithm to flag my video or if it’s the drum loops. CDBaby was kind enough to give me an email for Believe Digital since that’s not on the claim either.
YouTube won’t give you a link to the song that you’re allegedly copying. They don’t send you an email when a claim is filed and you have to monitor your Video Manager on a regular basis since the claim might come at any time.
I disputed the Believe Digital claim and they have until 7/17/05 to respond but not sure what the scenarios are after that. What happens if they maintain their claim?
Anybody had any experience with this kind of stuff?
Thanks,
Tom
