I have SD3 and Decades, which have a few good choices, but it’s still kind of limited. I think theres just one set with an 18″ bd in both.
I’m interested in using the samples not grooves.
Any recommendations?
… well, if you already have SD3, you can buy “the best jazz drum library ever” (Toontrack)
https://www.toontrack.com/product/roots-sdx-sticks/
… i’m still waiting for a Sale – the Bundle is EUR249 …
Yeah one set sounds OK. But for 179 that’s just not worth it. Just one 18″bd and a Pearl at that. No cymbals with rivets…
There is definitely a need for better jazz collection.
Come on Ableton!
Call Cindy Blackmon and sample Tony William’s drums! Or buy or rent Elvin Jone’s kits which are for sale. Call Steve Maxwell. Sample a Fibes snare – Buddy snuck one into every session he did for years…
Thanks @ wolfereeno for sharing your experience, I was considering the decades SDX just for jazz. I agree with your comments on the price of the Roots SDX, however you can get the roots SDX at a discount now at drum-tec. The Jazz EZX sounds pretty fine (still limited in terms of kit pieces) if you don’t want/need to tweak your sound.
