Americana 22″ Fibes Maple flams..

I just went ahead and parallel compressed the living heck out of the Americana 22″ Fibes Maple kick drum and since the compressor worked like a magnifying glass on the kick i was surprised (and actually horrified) by the vast amount of double trigged samples.
You know, the sound you get when the beater bounces back on the kick drum head.

The double trigs or flams seem to occur in the 110-115 velocity region.
Oh, and it’s the “Open” articulation.

There is a generous amount of snare buzz / bleed hiding this but i hear something too ( After soloing the kick and cranking it) around that velocity only on the alt hits.
Just as much as it shouldn’t be there,does it make for realism or character ?

Well i suppose since it’s an open articulation its main purpose would be e.g hitting the kick on the last 8th or 16th before the next quarter note, thus it’s not such a big deal. But once in a while an open kick as the main kick fits the bill perfectly, but those flams yeilds the 22″ maple pretty much useless. As a “main” kick that is.
