Alesis Pads for recording?

Hey all, I was thinking about getting an Alesis Perc Pad or even one of their Control Pads to trigger SD for recording. My skills ‘drumming’ on a keyboard a not good, but I though that actually tapping out the rhythm on a pad would be a better way to go. Does anyone know if this is possible or have any suggestions?

Maybe I should rephrase my question: Is any one “recording” their EZD or SD kits with something other than a keyboard or manually in a midi editor?

i use a alesis dm5 pro kit ive also used the large korg pad as well depends what kind of music your doing really
