Hi everyone, Superior drummer 3 newbie here. I was wondering if it’s possible to create grooves and drum beats from scratch. For example, I can do fairly well at dialing in a drum pattern i need using the tap to find feature, to the point sometimes i prefer over using the grooves that ‘sort of’ match and trying to modify them to make it fit. Is there a way to adjust BPM of the preset grooves? I’d be willing to buy more grooves, I’m just worried about spending a lot more money than I need to only to find out I can’t execute exactly what i need with this. The stuff I want to make is more for slower, simple, atmospheric ambient style. I do love SD3 for making metal with guitar though. Sorry, if any of these questions sound stupid. Thanks, and i hope everyone is well and safe.
Creating a groove in SD3 from scratch can be as simple as creating an empty region on the track and drawing in the beat using the grid editor. The trick is to make it sound like a drummer, to which there are plenty of videos online demonstrating this.
Alternatively, you can also modify grooves from the library using the Edit Play Styles and/or The Grid Editor to come up with something more of your own.
Plenty of ways to expand your groove library without busting the bank.
However, as much as I am programming my own grooves and have enjoyed doing it for many years, I will admit to partaking in some of the flash sales by Toontrack when they will offer a groove pack for $10. I have gotten some decent finds.
