A friend of mine got ahold of some recording equipment there a few weeks back, he asked me to be on the drums for some covers he wanted to record. Layed it down had fun and all that jazz, tracks sounded pretty good. The guy who brought the equipment at one point turned to me and said “hey man, you should think about doing studio work. People around here are dying for solid drummers”.
I live in a pretty small spot so I can imagine there are lots of bands/ musicians that just need drums on the odd song or two. I’ve never been much of a performer but studio work on the other hand sounds like something I’d be interested in. Make a few bucks help some local acts contribute to some tracks.
I’ve been really considering it lately and I guess I’m just asking for any advice on where to begin? How to market myself? I’ve been playing for 10 years and have always been lucky to have other musicians to jam with. And keep in mind that I fully understand that if I’m working on someone else’s track I gatta be able to do what they want me to do, not all about me, about serving the music and being dynamic and able to take direction. TIA everyone
