I’m using a Yamaha DTX 500 series kit to trigger SD2. I’m using Reaper as my DAW. I would like to be able to play the crash cymbals with more sensitivity. Right now the initial volume is too high. I want to be able to hit it softer for quiet parts in a song I’m working on. Also, overall the crash cymbals are too loud in the OH’s. How do I go about adjusting these parameters? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
on the construct page, you can lower the instrument volume in the lower right corner.
You can also open the Bleed page on each microphone fader the Crash cymbals are sounding and control their level respectively.
On the Mapping page you can edit the Velocity Control curve response for each articulation in an Instrument, to better suit your playing.

Hi John, I think sometimes my problem is that I don’t understand much of the lingo used in daw and software. Especially where it applies to MIDI. Here is a paragraph from the manual.
The Velocity transformation of MIDI node members is applied first, before being relayed to the target, a
discrete Articulation, or another MIDI node. If the target is an Articulation, the MIDI information will therefore
pass through two independent sets of Velocity Control units. This may not be desirable, and for this reason the
Velocity Ctrl section belonging to MIDI node members allows you to bypass the target Velocity Ctrl section.
Given what I’m trying to do, do I want to bypass the Velocity Ctrl. section?
What is the difference between an Articulation and a MIDI node? Which one am I trying to change?
Is the “Target” the end result of what I’m tying to do?
Someone needs to come up with a glossary of terms.
You are reading about MIDI nodes. They are objects that can
facilitate a velocity split or stacking or something equally
advanced. You just want to select the Articulation of your choice
and adjust its Velocity Transform. You should forget MIDI
nodes until week two of your relationship with Superior Drummer. 😉

Hi Olle, thanks for chiming in.
So if my target is Articulation, then I should bypass the Velocity Ctrl. section?
Also, what exactly am I doing when I bypass it? To put it another way, If I bypassed it and did nothing else, what would be the outcome? I really am trying to understand this stuff.
Thanks,
Skip the MIDI node comments and start reading a few paragraphs down:
