Hi,
I’m programming AOR style drum part (Jeff Porcaro influence), I’m use to play on real snare drum with rimshot hits.
When I’m programming I use rimshot articulation for backbeats hits and center articulation (with less velocity) for ghosts notes.
I observe on AOR groove from Decades SDX (Aja style) only center articulation is in use (some rimshots only for fills).
What’s your opinion about that? How do you use snare drum articulations?
Thank you!
Since the grooves in question are open to interpretation by the drummer that played them, our opinion is moot. If you are not happy with the articulation in context with the song, you can change the articulation within SD3 and adjust the groove to fit the song. Not to mention that grooves can be mixed and matched to create new grooves. There’s nothing saying that you have to use a groove as is,
jord
