1 tom note is triggering 2 rack toms in EZDrummer at the same time

That is a feature of the software to ensure MIDI plays back close to intended if there are missing instruments. I can understand in your situation that this is undesirable though. Could you not load both toms in one instance of EZdrummer 2?

    Thanks for the response Damian

To have 3 toms, I can indeed load 2 toms from the Vintage kit to the Southern 70’s kit (not the other way around as the Vintage kit only has 2 tom slots).

However, the mics and room sound is quite different from one expansion to the other. Loading in kit pieces from different EZdrummer expansions I find, doesn’t sound as good as using separate instances, to get the room sound where it was originally recorded.

    Perhaps there’s another work around?

The room sound will remain the same if you load a drum into a different library but other factors such as levels, routing, and effects will have effect the sound. The closest you’ll get to the sound of the original library is if you use the ‘Original Mix’ preset which uses no effects processing (this is comparing to the ‘Original Mix’ preset in the original library). If you are trying to use the software in an advanced way with e-drums it may be worth considering upgrading to Superior 2 which would give a you a lot more flexibility with regard to routing, levels, MIDI mapping etc.
