    Hi,

AFAIK, there are no E-drum kits that send sufficient data to be able to actually play with brushes. The Roland solution is an internal one and only sends regular note hits and CC16 for positional sensing. The Swirls/Sweeps/Drags in the Toontrack libraries are pre-recorded and can be triggered as such but of course you can cut a swirl with a Mute hit.

Hi John , thanks for the reply . With the “Brushes” kit present in some Roland control units, not only is the sound of the brush hitting the snare drum skin present, but by prolonging the contact of the brush a little you can have a hint of sweep. You can’t have the swirl effect of the continuous circular movement, it’s only an approximation but it’s still better than nothing and better than using sticks to have the sound of the brushes. I’m sending you a file recorded playing my Roland TD30 with the brushes on a drumless musical base.

Well, the problem is still that there is no module that actually sends data that receiving software can do much with aside from note hit, velocity and positional sensing.
Perhaps with the continuous development of MPE we will see drum modules down the line that can transmit data that can be handled by the next generation Toontrack software.

In the meantime you can only set up your own pad triggering of the different articulations and have them respond according to notes sent, positional sensing and what you can do with the Property Boxes in SD3; note releases, etc.
