Hi Jonas,
that is totally product-specific, so there is no single answer to that question.
Very generally, you could say that the SDX products are recorded the way the top engineer would have recorded the drums in a recording session. If that requires specific hardware, then it is used.
EZX:s are both recorded and pre-mixed to fit mixes in the style of the EZX.
I guess you could say that EZK libraries are a bit like EZX:s.
