If I understand 12/8 correctly, the grid should be in triplets. Should it?
Either way, I would like the grid editor to show 3 notes per beat. How can I do this to create and snap to this type of groove?
If you right click the Time Bar at the top of the Grid Editor you can choose to show straight or triplet. If you then zoom in and out the sub-divisions on the grid will change accordingly.
You can also turn snap to grid on or off and adjust the resolution in the Grid Editor Header. If you leave ‘Auto’ switched on in the resolution dropdown notes will snap to the currently displayed grid.
Had the same question. As far as I can tell, that right-click tip was not to be found in the manual—great to know! However, wouldn’t it make sense for the straight/triplet option for the grid editor simply to track your quantization choice? I mean, now that I know, doesn’t really matter, but again, I couldn’t find that in the manual.
