I bought a used superior drummer 2, the seller told that the serial number would work. well it doesn’t. Did the seller scam me or can I re-register the product for myself?

I was just trying to beat Olof’s response time on a post where I had typed 4 or 5 sentences, (maybe even as many as 9 or 10),
