The things you ask for seems to point into using a DAW, which can play audio simultaneously as SD3! There are small, cheap, and easy to manage DAW:s to look into, like Garageband (if you are using a Mac)…

    Hi Henrik,

I’ve seen other requests for this and I’ve also requested it myself. I don’t use a DAW, so a huge benefit for me would be that I could import a guitar track for example and it would be in sync with the metronome in SD3 so I could practice along with it. I could also actually record my drum track right in SD3 and that way when I exported it, the drum track would sync with the guitar track or whatever was previously recorded on my external recorder. I’ve been hoping for this feature since day 1.

I really hope this is something you’ll consider adding because it would help me a lot. It would also just be nice to open an MP3 to jam to right in SD3. Do everything in one program.

    Thanks!

I fully agree with Josh. This is a feature request that would be perfect for those who want to use the standalone app to either play to music or if you just want to use the standalone app. I’ve noticed when using the vst plug in the daw doesn’t allow you to make the plug in full screen so it’s not as user friendly when trying to mix.

I totally agree with this. S3 would be totally awesome if you could import stems to record to. Of course you can load it into a daw, but for just recording drums or making videos or whatever it would be really convenient. I can’t imagine it would be very hard to implement that function.

    Any update on the topic?

I would also like an update on this.  I’m no software engineer, but it seems to me like this wouldn’t be too hard of a feature to add.  Maybe I’m missing something, but I would love to be able to import guitar riffs or whatever to play along with in SD3 standalone.  Thanks guys!

in Digita Performer is it possible to bounce or freeze multiple individual outputs simutaneously?  And if so, how??? very important for me.

Please post not related questions in as new posts instead, so all the answers are related to the first question.

Regarding the question, maybe this video covers it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RX7k5WTXcE

I’m quite surprised this feature isn’t there. I’m not sure if you can import your own “drum” samples, but if so, it might be possible to sneak in a stereo mixdown that way, and trigger it from the beginning… just a thought, I haven’t tried.

For my part, I would like it so I can record into SD3 standalone, because standalone has no problem with CC4 for the hihat controller; whereas in my DAW, I have to fiddle with a few things to get it to send the values to the VST plugin (and I always forget what sequence of it works – ends up taking me about 5-10 minutes of stumbling to get it to work).

    Well, yes.
You can import your own sample onto a ‘Pad’ and trigger it and then play along but there is no way for you to pause it and continue.
And if you accidentally re-trigger that pad, the song will start again on top of the currently playing unless you have set the Voice Limit to ‘1’ for that pad.

Stopping it before it has ended must AFAIK be done by unloading the Articulation (power it off, so to speak).

It does seem odd that it’s a drum production studio without the ability to import at least a stereo track to record with.(in standalone)

I would love to see this feature added. Way more convenient that opening an entire session.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I’m here also looking for this feature. I use Logic Pro as my DAW, but I prefer editing in SD3 because things like positional sensing and hi-hat articulation aren’t easy to navigate in Logic.

Hey Toontrack, it would be excellent if you could enable us to import backing tracks to which we can play and record drums.

Hello Toontrack, I’ve also found this thread by Googling this feature. I’m trying to work in SD3 in standalone until it’s time to take the project to my DAW, but Pro Tools has been crashing a lot lately and I’d rather work in standalone. I’d like to be able to audition midi grooves against a backtrack and build the drum arrangement completely in SD3 first. Thank you for considering!

So I believe what you are asking is that you want to sync a track in EZD with a track that is on a computer with a track that is located on a different source, like a ‘studio in a box” or stand alone type unit. I do this all the time, running EZD on a SweetWater Creation Station while having my music tracks (Gtrs, keys, vocals) which have been recorded separately on a Tascam 2488Neo. What I do is start with a click track ON BOTH set to the same beats per minute. One deadspace click track is 8 bars long, the other 16. This is ‘dead space’ time – no music or drums on it. I just count it in and turn one on and then count out the 8 bars with the first one, and then turn on the other right on count one, bar 9. I almost always nail it,and have recorded demos of very long songs that way with ‘no slippage’ over the course of the recorded track. It is not that hard to do, once you’ve tried it a few times and you know both of your pieces of equipment. Once I’m done, I can edit out the front end deadspace in my demo before I master it.

I’m heading towards using EZD in Reaper where I will also record my audio tracks, but right now I’m just putting drumtracks to stuff I already had started on the NEO that didn’t have drums on them.

    Hope this help.

    Hello,
It is not practical to add audio tracks as an instrument because it is not synchronized with the metronome.
I’m really surprised that you guys haven’t taken our need to add a “play along” soundtrack seriously.
How hard could it be to add this feature?
Are there other considerations you have to take into account such as not competing with other DAWs?
Please consider implementing the “Add a ‘play along’ audio track” feature!

    Sincerely
    Lars
