Hey All,
Hoping someone out there can help me with a problem I’m having with Tracker.
Basically, I am trying to use Tracker to improve drum sounds on a live recording that was not played to a click and shifts through multiple tempos and time signatures. I have easily managed to drop the drum tracks into Tracker and replace the sounds and make a tempo map. Up to this point everything appears to be working as expected.
The issue begins when I export the Tracker session to a midi file and then import that midi file into Logic in order to copy the tempo map. I have set Tracker to “follow host” and I have updated the host (Logic) to follow the tempo map of my newly imported midi file. However, for some reason, the result does not sync up properly.
When the Midi and Audio files are positioned to both begin from the same spot, the parts do not line up. When I slide either the midi or audio file around and try to make them match visually, they will be briefly in sync but will quickly shift out of time. I’ve spent hours now fudging with the placement of all the files trying to get them to line up. It appears that the Tempo Mapping is not working properly because even when the two parts start from the same spot, they wind up out of sync.
Is there something I’m missing about this process? I’ve done it successfully with tracks that are to a click, so I’m wondering if there is something about the tempo mapping that I’m messing up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
are you using version 3.1.1?
When you have imported the Tracker MIDI to your Song Track and exited the Tracker tab, can you see that the starts at the beginning of the Song Track exactly?
If you open editor for the Tempo on the Song Track, does it look like expected? The Signature track as well?
Does Logic’s Tempo Track look like expected?
BR,
John
